August 29, 2010
    22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Focus:   We seek to praise God as we humbly acknowledge the gifts he has given us.
Humility is a moral virtue that helps us counter our human tendency toward exaggerated pride.  Humility does not require us to walk about with downcast eyes as we strike our breasts.  Rather, through humility we recognize and celebrate our talents, because we acknowledge God as their source and his praise as their purpose.

Convention News:  20 members from 7 councils in our diocese attended the National CWL Convention in Ottawa.  Faith was shared each day with Mass celebrated by several Bishops and concelebrated by Spiritual Advisors from across the province including our own Father Richard.  Each meeting began with a spiritual exercise prepared by the National Spiritual Development Chair.  Being the 90th Anniversary of the Ontario National CWL, members had great fun showing off the period costumes from the 20’s up the present: everything from flappers to flashdancers to elegant evening wear.  A sense of fulfillment was felt when 2 resolutions were passed mandating the National Executive to bring to the Federal government resolutions concerning the exportation of certain asbestos to foreign countries and to instate a tax credit for children’s arts and culture participation similar to the one in place for fitness participation.  Those present were proud to witness our 2 new life members, Pauline Krupa and Josie Schill, be formally commissioned by National President, Danielle McNeil-Hessian and National Spiritual Advisor, Archbishop Martin Currie.  A new National Executive was voted in and then installed at the closing mass.
